IES to Host May NCDBA Science and Technology Forum
NC State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) will host the North Carolina Defense Business Association (NCDBA) Science and Technology forum at the Wilson College of Textiles on May 9th from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Phil Williams, the chair of the Science and Technology forum, is an NC State graduate and is excited to conduct the monthly forum at his alma mater.
The purpose of the NCDBA is to build the Defense and Homeland Security industry clusters at military installations in North Carolina.The NCDBA provides information, connections and networking opportunities to members to build relationships and promote defense related business within the state of North Carolina. The NCDBA is comprised of a group of businesses with interests in military contracting, government affairs and supporting the state’s military installations, as well as defense contractors, private businesses, chambers, economic developers, municipalities, military leadership, universities, and community colleges that provide a networking opportunity to promote doing business in North Carolina.
The four speakers at this event will discuss topics that relate to the defense industry.
Dr. Roger Barker is the Director of TPACC at NC State and is a Burlington Distinguished Professor. Dr. Barker will discuss his research in Advanced Garment Systems for the Military and First Responders.
Josh Parker is a Production Leader for DMLS at ProtoLabs, a company that provides rapid manufacturing of low-volume 3D printed, CNC-machined, sheet metal, and injection-molded custom parts for prototyping and short-run production. His topic is Additive Manufacturing in Support of the Aerospace Industry.
Dr. Douglas Reeves is a Professor of Computer Science and Associate Dean of Graduate and International Programs in the College of Engineering at NC State. Dr. Reeves will discuss Business/Engineering Applications/Research NC State College of Engineering and how they relate to defense business.
Dr. John F. Kros is a Vincent K. McMahon Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at East Carolina University College of Business. Dr. Kros will discuss Special Topics in Supply Chain Management and how they relate to defense business.
